Summary:

Copenhagen and the surrounding region is a great place to visit and live in. The capital region offers a huge range of cultural views for afterwork hours, cafés, amazing restaurants, a relaxing atmosphere for locals, expats and tourists. It might be a little costly, but you will love it.

Leisure in the Copenhagen area

Updated 7.11.2018

Which kind activities do people do in Copenhagen, when they are not working? The region of Copenhagen has too many cultural sights to give a comprehensive overview in one article. The area has it all: Beaches, canals, history dating back to the viking times, theme parks, nature parks, cinemas, libraries, concert places, major shopping streets, and not to forget restaurants in world class. Visit and you will stay for years.

Cinema and Cafe

There are many possibilities to explore in the capital. Some like to watch the newest movies in the cinema. All cities in the region have their own cinema. You can get a good overview of which cinemas showing what, and a description of the movies on kino.dk. If you are into Cafés and meeting friends, colleagues you could use official tourist information from the localeyes guide.

Cultural houses and sports

Some like to explore museums and libraries, while others prefer cultural houses organizing dancing, concerts, jazz & blues nights, flea markets, comedy shows, belly dancing, gaming and political debates. On the sports activities some of the sports centers provide facilities for ice skating, swimming, badminton, tennis, squash, handball, boxing, football and karate etc. The International House in Copenhagen made a comprehensive guide with an overview of different cultural and leisure places in Copenhagen in English.

My top 15 of cultural sights:
